Rajya-Stariya Lokanritya
and Lokabadya Utsav [State Level Folk Dances and Music Festival] was held on 25 and 26 February, 2015 at Bhanja Kala Mandap,
Bhubaneswar. After organising the recently concluded and most wonderful events like the
Luptapraya Loka Kala Utsav [Festival showcasing Dying Regional Arts] and the
Sankirtan Mahotsav, kudos to
Odisha Sangeet Natak Academy and
Department of Culture, Govt. of Odisha for organising another brilliant festival showcasing Odisha's vibrant culture!
About Lokanritya
and Lokabadya Utsav:
Odisha has hundreds of lively and wonderful folk dances combining all its 30 districts. Odisha's folk instruments are also most unique and brilliant. In fact, each district has its own unique flavour of culture.
Today, people do not know about these wonderful arts of their own soil, which is unfortunate. To give a fresh lease of life to the artists of these beautiful dances and music, while also making the general public aware of their own vibrant culture plus connecting to the roots of Odisha's rich cultural heritage, the
Lokanritya
and Lokabadya Utsav was organised.
This was an absolute celebration, with the most inimitable and best of Odisha's folk dances and musical performances coming together in this greatest, grandest PARTY!
Total five lively, awe-inspiring dances and two superb musical performances reverberated at Bhanja Kala Mandap,
Bhubaneswar on 25th February- the inaugural day. Day 2 and concluding day of 26 February, mesmerised the audience with another array of most powerful and energetic four dances and two musical performances.

I was so re-charged and excited by the scintillating performances that I tweeted as below so that people did not miss this super-awesome festival on Day 2...
It actually had pained me that several seats remained vacant even in such a wonderful, delightful, awe-inspiring evening. But this is the misfortune of the people themselves- a show without tickets or passes, conducted in a lovely auditorium with invites sent long ago, and still so few came.
So, did my tweets get in more people on Day 2?! Wait for my next post to know! And get to know about more awesomeness of Day 2 as well! :D

DeleteI love folk music and folk dance more than any other type, but haven't seen in years. i remember, years ago, it was Doordarshan which used to air such folk arts, but it seems they too have stopped now.
