Everyone loves a winner.
Looking at the rear view mirror of life, I myself find that I was the
cynosure of all eyes when I came joint first in Xth CBSE Board Exams in Odisha (2001)
and also when I was Pepsi Change the Game Contest winner and got to witness
India's historic Cricket World Cup win (2011) from the stadiums starting from
Dhaka to history creation at Mumbai!

I even put TriColour nailpolish to support Team India, just before India versus West Indies World Cup match at Chennai! See:

So also, we have myriad examples of winners today in public
life. A few of them are:
- Deepika Padukone: Y'day was her birthday and it is not sheer coincidence I am writing about her. The fact is with four back-to-back Rs. 100 Crore plus earning movies of 2013, she has been the most successful actor in the year. The one with the Midas touch. Not surprisingly, even detractors about her acting a few years back, can't stop raving about her today.

- Sachin Tendulkar: The man everyone loves to love. First sportsman and youngest person to be conferred Bharat Ratna. This cricketer with astonishing records has retired a winner and still we say- Legends never retire!

- 1st Ranker in IAS Exam: Considered the toughest exam in the world, the numero uno person in each year's merit list becomes an overnight celebrity. None knows who came second, but all eyes and ears are focussed on who came first! Success actually kisses her feet...at least till the next year's list of rankers is out! :P
- Saina Nehwal: Won the unthinkable- an Olympic Bronze medal in badminton! Also won several badminton titles continuously till 2012. Advertisers chased her, youth loved this young girl, a winner who braved many odds coming from Haryana to make it big in badminton.
- P.V.Sindhu: The current badminton heart-throb who is the first Indian to win an individual medal in the World Badminton Championships since 1983. All love this simple and hard-working champion!
There are umpteen other winners in every field, who are
simply loved 'coz they emerged winners surpassing many others. However, we must
also realise that everyone has a TIME to win. That time should arrive,
otherwise that same person would not receive the adulation:
- Deepika Padukone: She had many flop movies before 2013. She even had to play the babe strutting about in hot clothes with almost nothing to say or do in several no-brain and stupid movies like Housefull, DesiBoyz etc. Until her TIME- 2013- came along. And changed her status to 'Bollywood's Golden Girl'.
- Arvind Kejriwal: Several jail-trips. Several threats. An expose on his party members just before elections (is anyone looking for those videos now?) threatening the very foundations of the party. Over-publicised spats with Anna Hazare. Still his TIME came at the fag end of 2013. He rules Delhi today as the CM.
- Sachin Tendulkar: Was written off several times in his career by critics. His retirement was unceremoniously discussed at the drop of a hat since the last couple of years. Still he stood his ground, made his records and listened to his heart on the TIME to retire.
- 1st Ranker in IAS Exam: This place has mostly over the last few years been taken by those who have bettered their previous ranks. It's a race, a penance of several years. When their YEAR arrives, they top the list.
- Saina Nehwal: Her father proudly proclaimed that she tired her opponent so much in the Olympic match, that the opponent had to retire and handover the Bronze medal to Saina. 2012 was her YEAR. In entire 2013, no titles and mostly first round or second round defeats for her.
- P.V.Sindhu: Young and talented. Clearly, her YEAR was 2013. While her compatriot (Saina) floundered, she won when it mattered. I wonder- did she knowingly lose to Saina in IBL or was it nervousness?! Friends or foes, training under the same coach?!

So, do not worry. If you've not made it in life yet, it's
just that your TIME has not come yet. And when your TIME comes, the whole world
will talk about how awesome you are, how adorable, how beautiful and
even your worst detractors will admire you like anything, for.....
EVERYONE LOVES A WINNER.......!
